Safe Working on Railcars
We provide Safe railcar access systems – keep workers safe when accessing railcars and filling or unloading rail tankers.
For more than 30 years, IFC Inflow has designed and built railcar loading platforms, ranging in complexity from basic access gantries, all the way up to total-railcar cages with access floor panels. Designed to comply with the most arduous health and safety requirements, our systems help to keep rail workers safe at all times.
Throughout the UK and Europe, the diverse range of configurations used by railcar manufacturers means there is a great need for flexible access solutions. Our integrated rail access systems are all designed to keep workers safe and efficient when working on top of rail cars.
When full access to the top of a railcar is needed, products such as the FlowStep are perfect – the stairs lower over the railcar, and the workers are protected by a pulpit-style cage that surrounds them. These systems minimise the risk when stepping onto and off of the railcar. When prolonged access, or more complicated operations are to be performed, our MultiLev system provides the safest access.
A MultiLev system provides a grated floor, surrounded by safety railings that lowers over the railcar. Operators then open panels in the floor to access the railcar at the most convenient position. This satisfies the CIA advice to eliminate the risk of falls by having workers on a platform rather than working directly on railcars.
