Customised Hose Support Solution for Improved Workplace Safety

Background
Industrial Chemicals reached out to IFC Inflow to address safety and efficiency concerns at their Grays site. Their goal was to reduce manual handling and minimise trip hazards during the tanker loading/unloading process, particularly with the heavy hoses used in the operation.

Challenge
The new loading station presented a unique challenge: a narrow bund wall only 300mm wide, which made it difficult to install a standard hose support system. The hose support standpost needed to be sturdy enough to support the weight of the 4m hose while remaining out of the way of incoming traffic.

Solution
After a site visit, IFC Inflow recommended a customised 4m Hose Support with a shorter standpost to fit the narrow space. The design ensured that the system was strong enough to handle the weight of the hose, while also preventing it from dragging on the ground, reducing wear and tear. This setup removed manual handling for operators, allowing them to swing the system into position with ease.

Outcome
The system was delivered in flatpack form, and the client chose to assemble it themselves, making it operational in just one day. The new Hose Support system significantly improved safety by keeping hoses off the ground, reducing slip and trip hazards. It also made the process more efficient, with a single operator now able to load and unload without the need for heavy lifting.

Features & Benefits

  • Customisable design: The system can be tailored to fit unique site requirements, such as narrow bund walls.
  • Improved safety: Eliminates manual handling and reduces slip/trip hazards by keeping hoses off the floor.
  • Increased hose lifespan: Prevents dragging, which reduces wear and extends the life of hoses.
  • Efficiency gains: Streamlines loading/unloading by making hoses easily accessible for operators.
  • Easy assembly: Delivered in flatpack form, the system can be assembled quickly by the client, minimising downtime.

This project is just one example of how IFC Inflow has helped clients optimise safety and efficiency in tanker loading operations. With decades of experience in the industry, we continue to provide tailored solutions that address specific challenges and improve operational outcomes.
