Multi Level Fall Prevention System at Chemical Company

Overview

A global chemical company with manufacturing and distribution facilities across the UK and Europe wanted to improve tanker loading efficiency while increasing operator safety when accessing and working on tanker tops.

They also required a multi level fall prevention system capable of accommodating a range of tanker and ISO tank sizes used on site.

IFC’s Solution

IFC proposed its multi level fall prevention system, the Multi Level Platform (MLP). This hydraulically powered platform mounts onto the front of a fixed access gantry. The platform lowers directly onto the tanker, allowing operators to safely step onto the working area. Hinged lightweight grated panels provide access across the entire tanker roof.

The platform is surrounded by a three-rail safety cage to support fall prevention and protect operators when working at height. In addition, IFC added two loading arm access points within the safety cage for this client. This allows operators to move the existing loading arms easily and safely. The MLP is hydraulically powered and controlled via an easy-to-use soft lever control panel mounted onto the existing gantry.

Project Outcome

IFC Inflow designed, built, installed and commissioned the MLP in line with the client’s requirements.

The safety platform has enabled the client to process more tankers within this loading area, resulting in greater product loading volumes. The system provides a high level of operator protection and fall prevention.
