William Grant & Sons Ltd are a family-owned distiller and distributor of premium spirits. Their brands are known and loved around the world such as Glenfiddich, Sailor Jerrys and Hendrick’s Gin. We had the honour of working with this company on a Fall Prevention project in 2017 in order to help create a safer working space for the employees working at height. The particular site in question was handling a number of substances in bulk including grain, neutral spirit, feints and gin essence.
The client wanted a gantry with safe access onto various height and type road tankers. It needed to fit spirit tankers, ISO tankers and general-purpose types. After an initial consultation our expert advisors put together a solution that would fit these specifications.
In addition to the Safe Access solutions William Grant & Sons also wanted a single point overfill prevention device which would feed its signal back to their site DCS system. We came up with a simple holster and handle that could be used with any “tuning fork” style level switch so that the system would be easy and accessible to use. On this job we used an Endress and Hauser type FTL51 but it would also fit Vega, Siemens and other types using this technology. The Sil 2 overfill prevention system helps the client prevent expensive and dangerous spillages and loss of product. This goes a long way towards improving business processes and creating a more efficient means of monitoring.
